40+ Years of Service
If the name Pico Macom sounds familiar to you, it should: We have been around as long as the delivery of cable and satellite TV signals—and longer than most other companies in the industry. Founded in 1962, Product Identification Company, Inc. (PICO) began as a manufacturer of etched name plates. Three years later, Pico applied its etching process skill to the manufacture of high-quality printed circuit boards and, by 1976, had expanded our capabilities to security devices for the nascent cable TV market. This was Pico’s debut in the CATV market that launched our growth and set early quality standards for the industry.
By the early 1980s, the newly named Pico Products, Inc. had become a leading designer and supplier to the CATV industry. Leveraging our success to accelerate growth, Pico acquired two companies: Macom Industries and OEM Sales. The new group, called Pico Macom, Inc., relocated headquarters to Lakeview Terrace, California.
Toward the end of 2000, The Steren Group, a consortium of electronics and interconnect components manufacturers, began exploring an alliance with Pico Macom and soon acquired the company. As a new member of The Steren Group, Pico Macom gained a wealth of experience and resources. Total customer satisfaction had long been our goal, yet we raised the standard even higher through increased value-added products and services, the best in customer support, system design and technical assistance, absolute commitment to quality, and the shortest lead times in the industry. With new corporate offices in San Diego, California, Pico Macom maintains manufacturing operations in the United States, Mexico and Southeast Asia.
