Advanced Units Allow Cable TV Providers to Cost-Effectively Bolster Their Programming Line-Ups
March 9, 2016 San Diego, California
Pico Digital, a worldwide leader in providing comprehensive multi-media delivery solutions to customers in the broadband, satellite, cable, and broadcast markets, today launched three new advanced multiplexers. Offering simple integration with digital TV broadcasting headends like Pico Digital's market-leading CONDOR, the PDATSC-IP, PDASI-IP and PDMUX products allow cable TV providers to cost-effectively add more programming to their line-ups.
The three multiplexers released today feature two independent groups of ASI outputs - each with two ports - and two IP outputs over UDP. For local off-air ATSC programming, the PDATSC-IP offers integrated demodulation and multiplexing functions, and features six ATSC tuners and two ASI inputs. An enhanced transport stream (TS) re-multiplexer, the PDASI-IP boasts eight ASI inputs. A professional TS processor, the PDMUX receives up to 512 IP (SPTS/MPTS) channels, supports PID pass-through, and multiplexes up to 2048 PIDs per out channel.
The Pico Digital multiplexers are fully compliant with the ISO13818 standard. The PDATSC-IP is also compliant with ATSC A/53 and the PDASI-IP and PDMUX are compliant with DBV/EN300 468. The units support PID re-mapping and filtering, PCR re-stamping, null packet removal, SNMP control, and PSI/SI table auto generation and editing. The PDATSC-IP also supports PSIP table auto generation. For easy management, the multiplexers can be controlled and upgraded via a Web server in addition to their front panel keyboards.
