April 17, 2017 San Diego, California
Pico Digital, an ATX Networks company, today announced that it will exhibit a variety of solutions at the 2017 NAB Show designed to help cable operators and radio networks deliver a better experience for their viewers and listeners. Highlights in booth SU4721 will include Pico Digital's HERMES IRD-AI satellite IRD and video ad insertion platform, PD1600 ultra-compact headend in a box, and latest HD and IP encoders. The company will also be displaying its mini cable modem termination system (miniCMTS), ATX's QAM-to-IP video gateway, and the X-Digital radio platform.
Pico Digital's PD1600 — the industry's most innovative headend — offers cable operators the performance and functionality of a traditional multi-rack headend within a compact 5-RU form factor. The solution extends the reach of satellite and cable operators into the local networks of hotels and other hospitality venues, providing them with complete control over content in QAM, IP, or analog NTSC format to the TV, while allowing free off-air channels to be added locally to increase the service offering.
Pico Digital encoders on display at the 2017 NAB Show will include the professional-grade PD1000 HD encoder modulation system and PD100 single-channel HD IP encoder. The PD1000 HD allows users to encode both HD and SD signals in MPEG2 or H.264 formats. The unit supports real-time encoding, while offering the flexibility of two, four, six, or eight HDMI (in the clear), component, and composite (closed captioning) inputs. Allowing local programming to be cost-effectively inserted into satellite feeds, the PD100 accepts HDMI in the clear, component, or composite video input with auto detection, and audio input via embedded HDMI, digital S/PDIF, or analog.
For the cost-effective delivery of high-speed data services, Pico Digital will be highlighting its miniCMTS200a, which supports up to 400 DOCSIS 2.0 modems, or 250 DOCSIS 3.0 plus 150 DOCSIS 2.0 modems. With 16 downstream bonded channels for up to 800-Mbps downstream and four upstream channels offering 120-Mbps upstream data delivery, the unit easily copes with today's demand for over-the-top (OTT) video services or managed IPTV services. In addition, Pico Digital will be displaying ATX Networks' QAM-to-IP video gateway for the reliable and secure delivery of HD or SD programming to hospitality or commercial accounts. The unit decrypts up to 60 channels and outputs content in clear IP streams or Pro:Idiom®
encrypted formats. ATX Networks gateways are also available in QAM-to-QAM, QAM-to-analog, IP-to-QAM, IP-to-IP, and IP-to-analog versions.
Pico Digital's powerful X-Digital radio distribution platform helps small and large radio networks deliver, schedule, and play out live and prerecorded audio via satellite or the Internet to radio stations throughout the world for AM/FM and or streaming broadcast. At the 2017 NAB Show, the company will highlight the platform's XDS encoders and XDS-PRO1Q and XDS-PRO4Q satellite receivers. The units feature codecs that dramatically improve audio quality, deliver more reliable high-quality and low-bitrate audio distribution for Internet streaming, and provide improved psychoacoustic models, all while using less satellite space segment to save on OPEX. The NAB Show will also see the debut of Pico Digital's XDS-AMR quad tuner receiver, which combines four AM, FM, and HD tuners in a single unit with solid-state storage up to 128 GB and the ability to monitor AM/FM/HD broadcasts and perform off-air verification of commercials. The XDS-AMR can also record, encode, store, and send tuned audio by IP streaming or FTP to multiple cloud locations.
The 2017 NAB Show takes place April 24-27 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. More information is available at www.nabshow.com
